Eviction Ban Extended

The government has announced that the eviction ban will be extended to the 20th September along with notice periods being extended to 6 months.

The change comes off the back of the previous eviction ban extension which was due to end on the 23rd August.

A 6 month notice period can be given to tenants which came into force on 29th August which is in place until 31st March 2021. This means that landlords are now required to provide tenants with a minimum of 6 months’ notice to gain vacant possession of their property.

Many landlords and tenants are under financial strain, with the new extension serving to add more pressure on landlords who are dealing with months of rent arrears.

We know that there have been amiable concessions made by landlords and tenants through this difficult period. If you need further support, please contact our Lettings team on 0113 2390012 or horsforth.lettings@hardistyandco.com
